Longchamp Brought to New Heights

By on Feb 27, 2015 in Specialty and Unique Gifts

Epitomizing Parisian flair and creativity, Longchamp appeals to the active woman who enjoys a touch of luxury in her everyday life. In its spring/summer 2015 campaign starring Alexa Chung, the French fashion house nods to fine architecture and culture. Focusing on its heritage, the Le Pliage bag is at the center of the bright campaign. Last fall, Longchamp celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Le Pliage handbag with InStyle magazine at Aventura Mall. Led by Turnberry Associates Co-Chairman and CEO Jackie Soffer, Aventura Mall is Miami’s premier shopping destination and a leader in South Florida’s luxury market. The coveted Longchamp boutique is joined by a luxurious retail lineup, which includes Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Bally, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and Cartier. Architecture meshes seamlessly with the structural designs of the spring/summer collection. The shoot took place on the rooftop terrace of Le Corbusier’s MAMO, Centre d’art de la Cité Radieuse, in Marseille, France, where a Daniel Buren exhibit was on display. “Using talented artists in a fashion campaign is far from unusual, but it does give the brand a smart and sophisticated air,” stated Luxury Daily in a recent...

Curating a Cultural Movement at Aventura Mall

By on Feb 19, 2015 in Malls

Culture meets fashion at Aventura Mall, Miami’s premier shopping destination. Led by Turnberry Associates Co-Chairman and CEO Jackie Soffer, the shopping center is more than just a retail destination – it’s a completely unique experience.   Turnberry for the Arts, a museum quality art collection inside Aventura Mall, features installations by renowned international and South Florida artists. Ten contemporary works from artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Jaume Plensa and Jorge Pardo, are positioned throughout the center for shopper’s viewing pleasure.   “One of the main reasons we created the collection was really because—unlike lots of town squares and places in Europe, for example, where people gather and where there is art in public places—people here do spend their leisure time at the mall,” Soffer told Fisher Island magazine. “I had a conversation with someone who said to me, ‘You know, you kind of have a social responsibility to put a good art collection within the property so that you are exposing lots of people to art that otherwise wouldn’t be exposed.’”   Giving the property a personality of its own, the artwork is seen by Aventura Mall’s 28 million annual visitors. With a variety of focal points blending into the center’s atmosphere, shoppers are treated to a thought-provoking experience while leisurely strolling from store to store. Many of the art installations were created to be a direct component within Aventura Mall. Daniel Arsham’s Columns is one of the center’s site-specific pieces. Miami-based Arsham created the appearance of an eroding column within the infrastructure of the center using steel, wood and drywall.   Bringing the shopper experience to an interactive level, FriendsWithYou’s Rainbow Valley is not your average mall playground. The art installation was created by Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III in 2006 and is South Florida’s first indoor children’s playground to be designed by contemporary artists.   Each work of art inside the center carries a unique story that continues to strengthen Aventura Mall’s reputation as a portal to luxury and the...

By on Feb 3, 2015 in Home and Garden

People are starting to invest more and more in storm doors for their homes these days. Storm doors have become popular since they add an extra level of protection in more ways than one. Storm door installation is easy and comparable to replacing or repairing main entry doors, which can be pricey. There are many pros to adding a storm door to your home. For starters, storms doors help conserve energy if you have an old wooden door, which has cracks and lets the air from outside in or vice versa. Storm doors are energy efficient because they help keep cold air inside in the spring and summer and cold air outside in the chilly winter months. This in turn keeps air conditioning and heat costs steady since there is no need for excessive amounts of either. If your main front door does not have a roof or overhanging over it then chances are it will get worn out by the weather. If this is the case then a storm door will provide an extra level of protection for the initial door. Storm doors provide a layer of protection for both the wellbeing of the initial door and for the protection of your home. Storm doors have a lock, which means that there are two sets of locks to get into the home. Nothing says safety like two sets of locks! Make sure you have all of your keys in order! Overall, storm doors last for a long time and are truly made to endure inclement weather conditions. Storm doors provide extra security, which could lead to a better night...
